Player Hating

Posted by Caro On May - 5 - 201015 COMMENTS

The saying goes “don’t hate the player, hate the game”. There so much to hate about that simple phrase. I’m not one to “hate” anything. It’s a strong word and you shouldn’t be throwing words like that around. I’ll tell you this much, however, I intensely dislike the player and their little games. You’d think games are the type of thing we leave behind in middle school, maybe even high school… AT LEAST college. Yet, here we are playing cat and mouse…

I’d rather listen to a couple of words by Dead Prez- “Don’t hate the game cause the game don’t feed you / Don’t hate the world cause the world don’t need you”. Yeah, I like that a lot better. At the end of the day those game aren’t getting you anywhere. We have bigger fish to fry. Some of us are trying to get our act together. Buy houses. Start businesses. Raise kids. You know… be something, do something. I don’t have the time or patience to live my life by the three day rule.

I think we need to put on our big kid pants and step up. I mean, really… when you look ahead ten years from now do you think that your ability to “spit game” is going to land you that big promotion? Do you think that your milkshake will bring all the boys to the yard when you’re pushing 40? Honey, Cougar Town is only a show on TV. Act grown. I don’t know about you, but I’m trying to buy my mom a house not live in hers my whole life. I want to see the world. It’s big and it’s bad. BRING IT!

That’s intimidating I’m told. Fantastic. Player-0 ‘Lina-1. Leave the game playing at home and be real. It’s getting old… Or maybe I am?

Fried Oreos v. Celery Sticks

Having fallen off the health train I’ve once again vowed to get back in the game. The groceries have been bought and the cross trainers are in the trunk ready for the gym. I’m motivated and ready to get healthy. WOOHOO!

Then I realize I can walk to Five Guys Burgers and Fries from work. And unfathomably worse I come to find out about a new restaurant wreaking havoc on the battle of the bulge. A place offering the kind of delicacies you save for special occasions, family vacations and rock bottom depression days. This is the reason the fair only comes to town but once a year people!

Oh the injustice…

Hold on your seats boys and girls. Prepare to salivate on your keyboards. A new spot in the very part of town where I grew up a little butterball myself, Kendall, is a place whose motto may as well be “batter me up!” With so many deep-fried items my heart just stopped for a second at the thought. Don’t you worry Cholesterol we won’t make a habit of this.

Deep-fried Oreo

This should be illegal...

But my poor virgin taste buds have never had a friend Oreo®. I know… blasphemy! The menu is filled with mysteries of tasty possibilities I’ve never imagined. Someone please go survey this place and let me know if I should steer clear. I don’t know if it’d be safe to allow me near funnel cakes so close to bathing suit season. Mmm, Italian sausage… fried ice cream sandwiches and Kit Kats®?! What in the name of all things delectable is a fried hot dog???

My inner fat kid just passed out. Probably for the best, he shouldn’t be around when I try to pretend this celery stick is a Dulce De Leche Cheesecake.

I’ve promised myself one fried cheat item if I can be healthy for two weeks or at least 10 lbs. That sounds like a reasonable offer. Then I can be a gorilla for a day going to town on something that would embarrass a heart attack. What fun!

Shoe Lust

There’s something very empowering about a sexy stiletto. The simple act of putting on a towering designer shoe can make you forget your insecurities for a moment. Shoes like this instantly put pep in your step and sass to your walk. Plus, a good dress shoe can instantly add glamour to your outfit. So you’re feeling good and you’re looking good.

Having a Napoleon Complex I think the bigger the better. A real tall stiletto adds length to your legs and gives you a sexy silhouette. They don’t have to be too flashy. A classic shoe never gets old. My favorite for any occasion is the peep toe. Talk about classic beauty!

Now the mother of all peep toe stiletto shoes and the Holy Grail to my collection would be none other than the Christian Louboutin black pump. The signature red bottom is a sign of fashion supremacy. And to think that it’s not even the initial focal point of a show. However, this particular shoe brings attention to itself in simplicity, elegance and unadulterated jealousy!

In case you live under a rock a monumental event has occurred:

After a year long struggle and the biggest test of Obama’s presidency the health care bill is passed. What does it mean? With so many passionate opinions out there it’s tough to figure out whether we should be excited or appalled.

What do Americans think?
“A new CNN poll finds that 59% oppose the plan, versus only 39% who support it, and 56% think it creates too much government involvement.
The counterargument: Of that 59%, 13% oppose it from the left, which means a total of 52% support it or say it doesn’t go far enough.”

*CHEERS*

The beginning of anything is pretty significant. The birthplace, the induction point, the starting line… And here we are at the start of my personal blog. Where I will send you into a spiraling enthrall of randomness. I’ve been told I’m an interesting little creature, so I’m sure I’ll have plenty to share that will perk your ears up.

The first and foremost task, however, will be to let all the Antisteezers know what they should be doing this week. Stay tuned for that blog post.

Do something that scares or surprises you. Most of all just… live. And by live I mean experience the world around you. Pretty impressive stuff. Enjoy.
